PRO$PER JONE$ - July 2025
Before ending the month, we would like to shine light upon PRO$PER JONE$ (@Prosper_jones) for our July artist highlight. Pro$per is a multi disciplined artist from Uptown New Orleans. He has backgrounds in song writing, music production , photography, and more but in his words “wherever my spirit moves me”. Growing up he has always gravitated towards being creative as he says he was born an artist.
He was always into drawing as a child and was surrounded by family that were creatives. His cousin is one of the original hot boys, which drew his attention to music. He says that “creativity is self expression” which allows people to better connect with him through his work. Prosper is inspired by many things. Life experiences, conversations , past work from artists and people who strive for greatness. A few athletes that he named were Michael Jordan Kobe Bryant and Stephen Curry. A moment that he holds dear to him and explains himself as an artist would be an album titled “Since 88’” that he created in 2017 that was never published or released. Which featured artists such as L.G, Paasky, Zella, Rapsody and more. As an event producer, Pro$per is known for curating events such as Luv Jone$ Lounge and Alt.Soul which are powered by his creative Agency Art Above the Law (@Artabovethelaw)
When asked how he deals with goals currently, his response was “ I set goals for the future and focus on the present to execute.” His current goal is to ”help create a sustainable business infrastructure for New Orleans artists.” He also touched on eliminating the crabs in a barrel mentality while also stating that “ you’ve still got to do the work to get in the room.”
Prosper had a recent solo photo exhibition at the Parlour Gallery titled " When we were Kids" that debuted On white linen night, August 2nd. When asked how he could be reached, his response simply was “catch me outside..if you can”. Have you been to a Prosper Jones curated event?
